GOP Lawmaker Accuses FBI of Intentionally Hiding Evidence that Cleared Trump from Collusion Charges

Texas Rep. John Ratcliffe has told the Day Caller and Fox News that he is about to blow the Mueller fiasco to bits. Ratcliffe, a leading member of the House Judiciary Committee offered the clearest picture yet of what and how the FBI allegedly hid pertinent information from FISA courts before securing permission to surveil the Trump campaign.

Representative Ratcliffe suggested that the Justice Department possessed contradictory information about former Trump campaign adviser George Papadopoulos without revealing that to the court. In an interview Ratcliffe said the FBI opened its investigation on July 31, 2016, after receiving information from the Australian government concerning a conversation that Alexander Downer, the top Australian diplomat to the U.K. had with Papadopoulos on May 10, 2016.

Ratcliffe said, “Hypothetically, if the Department of Justice and the FBI have another piece of evidence that directly refutes that, that directly contradicts that, what you would expect is for the Department of Justice to present both sides of the coin to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court to evaluate the weight and sufficiency of that evidence. Instead, what happened here was … officials in the Obama administration … only presented … evidence that made the government’s case to get a warrant to spy on a Trump campaign associate.”

Months before any approved investigation Downer, the former high commissioner to the U.K. asked another Australian diplomat to contact Papadopoulos, for a meeting, which occurred around May 10, 2016, at London’s Kensington Wine Room.

Though the FBI never mentioned it to the courts, Downer passed through channels there was no indication during his brief exchange with Papadopoulos that Trump was aware of the damaging information that might have existed against Hillary Clinton.

Downer reported that the meeting at a local bar was very brief and Papadopoulos was not drunk, as the mainstream media has widely reported. He told The Australian that British intelligence “didn’t know anything about Trump and Russia, and “had no particular focus on that.”

He added, “By the way, nothing [Papadopoulos] said in that conversation indicated Trump himself had been conspiring with the Russians to collect information on Hillary Clinton. [he] clearly knew that the Russians did have material on Hillary Clinton — but whether Trump knew or not? He didn’t say Trump knew or that Trump was in any way involved in this … was about Russians and Hillary Clinton; it wasn’t about Trump.”

Ratcliffe contends that it was the FBI’s misrepresentation of the Downer – Papadopoulos meeting that prompted its operation “Crossfire Hurricane,” its counterintelligence investigation into possible coordination between members of Trump’s campaign and the Kremlin.

According to Ratcliffe, the declassification of FBI and Justice Department documents on the matter “would corroborate” claims about the Papadopoulos intelligence.

Republicans have been relentless in asking President Trump to declassify the documents, which include 21 pages from a June 2016 FISA application against Carter Page.

The FBI was granted a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) warrant for former Trump campaign aide, Carter Page, on Oct. 21, 2016. That warrant relied heavily on the largely now-debunked Steele dossier to assert that Page acted as a foreign agent of Russia.

Page has vehemently denied the allegations.

President Trump initially ordered the documents declassified on Sept. 17 but rescinded that order four days later. Trump’s explanation is that the Justice Department and two foreign allies asked him not to declassify the documents.

Ratcliffe disagreed saying, “Declassifying them would not expose any national security information, would not expose any sources and methods. It would expose certain folks at the Obama Justice Department and FBI and their actions taken to conceal material faces from the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court.”

Though Trump did not state which foreign countries might be affected negatively by declassifying the documents, the U.K. is at the center of several meetings that are considered key to the Russia probe. An Australian government official probably sparked the FBI’s collusion investigation, dubbed Crossfire Hurricane.

In a BBC radio interview, Downer dodged questions about Papadopoulos saying, “I was the Australian high commissioner … The thing is, I’m just not going to get into these sort of allegations he’s made. I mean, people who have worked with me, and people in Australia who know me, know absolutely my record.”

It isn’t a question “if” the documents will be declassified but “when.” Sooner or later the dots are going to be connected and Mueller’s house of cards will fall.

  1. Like!! I blog frequently and I really thank you for your content. The article has truly peaked my interest.

  2. Stop Mueller now. He prolongs deliberately the lies and will never admit the truth: Hilary Clinton is the criminal, Obama, Valerie Jarred and Huma Abedin

    1. Anyone can tell this “Investigation” (not a Matter?) is bogus and totally biased against PRESIDENT Trump and his Party.
All the evidence piling up showing it was the Clinton Campaign that was doing all the collusion with Russia and foreign entities, and not a single peep out of him against her. She gets a Free Pass, again, but if PRESIDENT Trump even jokes about something, they investigate it. Remember during the Debate when he asked Putin to deliver the 33k emails? Anyone with an ounce of brains could tell he was joking, yet it’s still brought up that “He asked Putin”.
This has never been a legitimate investigation from the beginning, and it’s only INTENDED purpose is to keep PRESIDENT Trump in a bad light,.

  3. Sure he will. But not until after the mid-term elections. The crooked Dems want to keep that black cloud over the President until after then!

  4. I think the media is wrong just as they were in the 2016 election cycle. Think about it, Muller is a registered republican that served many years in government service. He is nearing retirement and is a victim of the previous fraud perpetrated by the previous administration. Could it be that he is truly following the facts and he and president Trump are, behind the scene, using the Trump collusion facade as cover for Muller to investigate the fraud perpetrated on the FISA court and the American people? When Muller raps up the investigation, after the mid-term election, expect to see a lot of indictments and a grand jury in paneled to address the fraud. I for one believe good is stronger than evil and the guilty will pay.

    1. I wish you were right, Tony, but I believe you have rose color glasses on. Mueller has a past history of being unscrupulous. The corrupt traitorous FBI is part Mueller’s doing and part, Mueller’s protege, James Comey ‘s doing. Mueller needs to be investigated for the traitorous RUSSIAN Uranium One deal…

  5. I’m not very confident anything will materialize from this information. The liberal progressive democrat Marxist communists are sharp and excel in breaking laws and getting off scot free while law abiding (conservative) citizens pay dearly for minor infractions is the law.

  6. God said, everything hidden will be seen. And it’s happening. As I have said more than once, no one on this planet is going to get away with anything, even if they get away with things now. There is a judgement and these type people either will repent and change or they will be judged and gone forever.

  7. I think when we the Trumpers win the midterms … someone needs to count up all the money our tax dollars have paid for this foolishness/font witch hunt and make the Democrats pay all that sum back to the government…. I didn’t OK for my tax dollars to go for such nonsense….Did any of you OK for ur tax dollars to go for Muller??? I don’t think so! Make them (Demos)pay out of all there funds collected for this midterm elections to the government and also pay the interest on our tax money spent on it…,

  8. Most of these Email letters are simply “fundraising” opportunities”, which may or may not be legit. That is why I am somewhat reluctant to enlist. If there is a dire need, I will respond. However, please keep in mind that many of your signees are SS folks, ,struggling to make ends meet.

  9. Great but Trump has to declassify and release the doc in a few days, or he may lose the House. F**k the Brits and their scumbag disgrace, Steele!

  10. Carlos, I truly hope that by withholding the declassification of these documents Trump is actually reaping Massive Political Capital from these “Allied” Governments that he is covering for by keeping these secrets. I am a firm believer that there will be a day of reckoning for All of these seditious traitors. I just hope to live long enough to see it. Long Live The Republic. M.A.G.A., and Stay In Faith.

  11. I see a big part of the problem is AG Jeff Sessions and his hiding out. What is he there for? He is the most lack luster Attorney General I have ever seen. These Demo Rats must have something on him or he is a part of the “Swamp Dwellers.” Sessions should stop playing the Recusal game! It is time to step out! If he doesn’t, President Trump needs to either fire him or Sessions needs to resign after the Mid-Terms!

  12. May Ӏ simply say wһaat a comfort to dіscover an individual who ruly knows wһat they’re ⅾiscussing over the internet.
You certainly know how to bring a problem to light and make it important.
A lߋt more people should rеad thі and understand this
